The transformation of traditional construction systems in Michoacán has been a process that has been going on for many years and that has greatly modified the way people live. This has also been reflected in the image of the villages in the lake area of Pátzcuaro Lake. Traditional adobe houses with wood and tile roofs have changed over time. Changing the sloped roofs by flat roofs of concrete slab and covering the walls of adobe with cement, most of the cases as a belief of improvement. The transformation begins with the change of materials and this later entails a different construction system change. A system that in these times is much more commercial and therefore there is greater access of people to it. Leaving aside traditional materials and the previous construction system in oblivion. Achieving that the knowledge of this construction system is in a few hands and at the same time using it as a luxury, in order to attract the attention of foreign tourists. In spite of the transformations made in the houses, in which they try to look like other places they have been, as cities, the way of life that the inhabitants of the lake area have does not allow them to be part of the house at all western. Since the way of life that they have, it involves many more very different traditions and activities.
La transformación de los sistemas constructivos tradicionales en Michoacán, ha sido un proceso que se ha ido presentando desde hace muchos años atrás y que ha modificado gran parte la forma de vivir de las personas. Esto también se ha visto reflejado en la imagen de los poblados de la zona lacustre del lago de Pátzcuaro. Las casas tradicionales de adobe han cambiado, los techos inclinados por techos planos de losa de concreto y recubriendo las paredes de adobe con cemento, la mayor parte de los casos como creencia de mejora. La transformación inicia con el cambio de materiales y esto después conlleva un cambio de sistema de construcción diferente. Un sistema que en estos tiempos es mucho más comercial y por lo tanto hay mayor acceso de las personas a él. Dejando un poco de lado los materiales tradicionales y el sistema de construcción anterior en el olvido. Logrando así que el conocimiento de dicho sistema de construcción este en pocas manos y a la vez utilizando como un lujo, para así llamar la atención de los turistas extranjeros. A pesar de las transformaciones realizadas en las viviendas, en las que tratan de parecerse a otros lugares en los que han estado, la forma de vida que tienen los habitantes de la zona lacustre no les permite del todo formar parte de la vivienda occidental. Ya que la forma de vida que ellos tienen, involucra muchas más tradiciones y actividades sumamente diferentes.
