Centro de Estudios de Bachillerato en la tenencia de Jesús del Monte en Morelia, Michoacán

Abstract

The urban area of Morelia had registered a remarkable growth towards the south zone, where private schools prevail over the public sector. In the landholdings of the municipality such as: "Tenencia de Jesús del Monte", "Tenencia de San Miguel del Monte" and "Tenencia de Santa María de Guido" the state education is limited to the high school level. Furthermore, 60 percent of the population in "Jesus del Monte" can't pay the tuition fee of the private schools, since they have an average income of 2 minimum wages. Field research show an increase in the number of young people who are interested in continuing to study, after completing the basic level. Thus, exists 200 young people studying high school in a partially borrowed building, since they can only make use specific classrooms without any administrative, laboratories, sports or recreational areas, suitable for their instruction. Hence the designing of an architectural project for the high school "Centro de Estudios de Bachillerato de la Tenencia de Jesús del Monte" is a necessity for the community, that can also make a positive impact on the rooting of young students to their community and the decrease of school dropouts, on which Michoacán is top ranked in the country. Man perceives space through the senses and it is through nature that space becomes humanized, so the main design concept of this high school is the incorporation of the 5 senses: sight, touch, hearing, smell, and taste. This favors the students learning, motivates them to attend classes and to achieve a better academic performance.

Durante la última década, la mancha urbana del municipio de Morelia registra un notable crecimiento hacia la zona sur, en donde hay una variada oferta educativa de carácter privado, pero se cuenta con pocos espacios escolares de carácter público. En el caso de las Tenencias de Jesús del Monte, San Miguel del Monte y Santa María, se carece de servicios educativos públicos en nivel medio superior. Además, los planteles escolares privados cobran colegiaturas que no puede pagar la inmensa mayoría de los habitantes de Jesús del Monte, ya que más del 60 por ciento tienen ingresos menores o de hasta 2 salarios mínimos diarios. La investigación de campo muestra que existe un incremento del número de jóvenes que muestran interés por seguir estudiando, después de concluir el nivel básico. Es así que actualmente 200 jóvenes reciben su instrucción de nivel medio superior en un inmueble que les prestan temporal y parcialmente, ya que sólo hacen uso de las aulas y carecen de áreas administrativas, laboratorios y áreas deportivas o recreativas, adecuadas para su instrucción. De ahí la necesidad de diseñar un proyecto arquitectónico de Centro de Estudios de Bachillerato para la tenencia de Jesús del Monte, que contribuya a disminuir la deserción escolar, en la que Michoacán se ubica en los primeros lugares a nivel nacional y arraigar a los jóvenes estudiantes a su comunidad.
