This research is about a proposal for an urban culture and sports center in the western area of the city of Morelia, Michoacán, taking as a problem that its recreational and cultural equipment is insufficient. The intention of this project is to provide the inhabitants of the area with a space that is within reach of their needs without having to travel long distances to practice their training activities, in addition to having adequate facilities for their development. Previously mentioned is the problem for which the project arises, so the main aspects of the problem are presented below. In the 70's the population increase in Morelia was more notorious, which was one of the reasons why the city expanded, because due to the demand for work, equipment, infrastructure, growth in families and the desire to have access to better amenities, are several of the reasons why people from rural communities or small towns left their places of origin, looking for alternatives to get ahead. That is why the demand for subdivisions or housing on the outskirts of the city is very large but its recreational equipment is very little, well, as these subdivisions grow the equipment provided is usually insufficient for the community, limiting the inhabitants to perform recreational activities in which they can practice and encourage them to move to different places to do so. Another thing is that they do not give importance to building or adapting spaces for recreational activities, they always foresee a little more for the part of commerce or infrastructure.
Esta investigación trata sobre una propuesta de centro urbano de cultura y deporte en la zona poniente de la ciudad de Morelia, Michoacán, tomando como problema que su equipamiento recreativo y cultural es insuficiente. La intención de este proyecto es brindar a los habitantes de la zona un espacio que esté al alcance de sus necesidades sin tener que recorrer grandes distancias para practicar sus actividades de entrenamiento, además de contar con instalaciones adecuadas para su desarrollo. Anteriormente se menciona la problemática por la cual surge el proyecto, por lo que a continuación se presentan los principales aspectos del problema. En la década de los 70's el incremento poblacional en Morelia fue más notorio, lo cual fue una de las razones por las que la ciudad se expandió, ya que, debido a la demanda de trabajo, equipamiento, infraestructura, crecimiento de las familias y el deseo de tener acceso a mejores comodidades, son varias de las razones por las que la gente de las comunidades rurales o de los pueblos pequeños dejó sus lugares de origen, buscando alternativas para salir adelante. Es por ello que la demanda de fraccionamientos o viviendas en la periferia de la ciudad es muy grande pero su equipamiento recreativo es muy escaso, pues bien, al crecer estos fraccionamientos el equipamiento que se brinda suele ser insuficiente para la comunidad, limitando a los habitantes a realizar actividades recreativas en las que puedan practicar y los impulsa a trasladarse a diferentes lugares para hacerlo. Otra cosa es que no le dan importancia a la construcción o adecuación de espacios para actividades recreativas, siempre prevén un poco más para la parte de comercio o infraestructura.
