Espacio, poder y utopía en David Harvey. La geografía moderna replanteada a partir de la reflexión sobre la <<naturaleza humana>> y la <<condición posmoderna>>

Abstract

To analyze the importance of the geographical knowledge and repensar the social objectives of proceeding scientific, it is the ambitious person's theoretical project part that David develops Harvey throughout their work. The one which, it presents the one opportunity to connect those queries and the concerns that arise from a science peculiar with the attitude critic that characterizes to the philosophical thought. To question the potentialities of the Geography, the way how they influence in the interpretation of the social processes and in the construction of the knowledge, is one of the main tasks that seeks to carry out the one author taking like base the thought Marxists and proposing, of beginning, its reformulation. David Harvey (1935) he/she is an English geographer that carried out their first studies in the University of Cambridge, England. Great part of its investigations was made to the being professor of John's University Hopkins, Massachusetts (1972 -2001) and at the moment he/she is Distinguished Professor in Anthropology for the University of New York (CUNY). Its academic formation inside the field of the Geography endows of a character peculiar to their positions, which are constantly articulated with the Philosophy and with the rest of the social sciences.

Analizar la importancia de los conocimientos geográficos y repensar los objetivos sociales del proceder científico, forma parte del ambicioso proyecto teórico que desarrolla David Harvey a lo largo de su obra. El cual, presenta la una oportunidad de enlazar las interrogantes y las preocupaciones que surgen desde una ciencia particular con la actitud crítica que caracteriza al pensamiento filosófico. Cuestionar las potencialidades de la Geografía, la manera cómo influyen en la interpretación de los procesos sociales y en la construcción del conocimiento, es una de las tareas principales que pretende llevar a cabo el autor tomando como base el pensamiento marxista y proponiendo, de inicio, su reformulación. David Harvey (1935) es un geógrafo inglés que realizó sus primeros estudios en la Universidad de Cambridge, Inglaterra. Gran parte de sus investigaciones fueron efectuadas al ser catedrático de la Universidad de John Hopkins, Massachusetts (1972-2001) y actualmente es Profesor Distinguido en Antropología por la Universidad de Nueva York (CUNY). Su formación académica dentro del campo de la Geografía dota de un carácter peculiar a sus planteamientos, los cuales se articulan constantemente con la Filosofía y con el resto de las ciencias sociales.
