Lo atroz en Hannah Arendt: un estudio sobre la banalidad del mal

Abstract

In this thesis I will carry out an approximation to Hanna Arendt's conception of the atrocious, based mainly on her approaches in Eichmann's work in Jerusalem, and the problem of the banality of evil. For this I will develop three chapters: 1) The reconstruction of Hannah Arendt, where I will address what the exercise of Evil consists of in relation to the passion of anti-Semitism and the monstrous case of Eichmann. 2) A first approach to the problem of the banality of evil in its existential dimension, exemplified in totalitarianism, radical evil and Arendt's insistence on the importance of studying it to better understand it. 3) A second approach to the problem of the banality of evil, now from its ontological dimension, where I will specifically analyze the secrets in the idea of evil, in relation to the two evils in the necessary being (radical evil and the banality of evil) to finally focus, based on all of the above, on the realization of a more complete concept of the Arendtian position on the banality of evil.

En esta tesis se llevaré a cabo una aproximación a la concepción que tiene Hanna Arendt sobre lo atroz, a partir principalmente de sus planteamientos en la obra de Eichmann en Jerusalén, y el problema de la banalidad del mal. Para ello desarrollaré tres capítulos: 1) La reconstrucción de Hannah Arendt, donde abordaré en qué consiste el ejercicio del Mal en relación con la pasión del antisemitismo y el monstruoso caso de Eichmann. 2) Un primer acercamiento al problema de la banalidad del mal en su dimensión existencial, ejemplificada en el totalitarismo, el mal radical y la insistencia de Arendt sobre la importancia de estudiarlo para comprenderlo mejor. 3) Un segundo acercamiento al problema de la banalidad del mal, ahora desde su dimensión ontológica, donde analizaré específicamente los secretos en la idea del mal, en relación con los dos males en el ser necesario (el mal radical y la banalidad del mal) para centrarme finalmente, con base en todo lo anterior, en la realización de un concepto más completo de la posición arendtiana sobre la banalidad del mal.
