Curva de crecimiento y correlaciones fenotípicas del pavo común mexicano a diferentes edades

Abstract

the growth curve and phenotypic correlations between production and morphometric indicators in the Mexican common turkey was determined. For this purpose 11 male turkeys which were measured weekly for six months, body weight, chest width, tarsus length and diameter were used. The results indicate that the liveweight of turkeys had greater growth between 17 and 20 weeks of age (1.036 g) and breast width and tarsus length of 9 to 12 with 2.67 and 3.35 cm respectively. It was also found that body weight is correlated positively and significantly (p <0.05) with chest width, length and diameter of tarsus in 97, 96 and 98%, in that order. the possibility that the results showed this study will be useful for the selection of native turkeys are analyzed.

Se determinó la curva de crecimiento y correlaciones fenotípicas entre indicadores productivos y morfométricos en el pavo común mexicano. Para ello se utilizaron 11 pavos machos a los cuales se les midió́ semanalmente, durante seis meses, peso vivo, ancho del pecho, longitud y diámetro del tarso. Los resultados indican que el peso vivo de los pavos tuvo mayor crecimiento entre la 17 y 20 semanas de edad (1,036 g), así́ como ancho de pechuga y longitud del tarso de la 9 a la 12, con 2.67 y 3.35 cm respectivamente. También se encontró́ que peso vivo está correlacionado positiva y significativamente (p<0.05) con ancho de pecho, longitud y diámetro de tarso en 97, 96 y 98%, en su orden. Se analiza la posibilidad de que los resultados que arrojó el presente estudio sean de utilidad para la selección de pavos nativos.
