The rupture of cranial cruciate ligament is one of the most common traumatic pathologies within the small animal clinic and is the first cause of lameness of the pelvic limb in the dog. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the technique Tight Rope, replacing the patented suture for Jorvet? and Arthex? with polyester suture and polymethylmethacrylate buttons in six healthy dogs of race, sex, age, height and weight, which were induced to rupture the cranial cruciate ligament, evaluating the efficiency of the technique, practicality, accessibility and the post-surgical process (Reaction of the organism to the suture and buttons, tensile strength of the suture, recovery time, degrees of lameness, flexion and extension angles of the joint, mobility range, circumference of femoral muscle mass diameter and presence or absence of degenerative changes). Radiographically the condition was evaluated the bone integrity and the stifle joint of the pelvic limb, as well as the location of the femur with respect to the tibia pre and post-surgically at 8, 15, 30 and 60 consecutive days to the completion of each surgery. In a complementary way, a histological study of the suture and the adjacent tissue was performed in the joint of the operated member of one of the patients at 120 days postoperatively. The technique was performed with ease, observed a satisfactory recovery of the patients at the end of the study so it can be concluded that this technique using polyester suture is a good option for stifle joint stabilization in dogs with rupture of cranial cruciate ligament.
