The study of social phenomena and movements throughout the centuries has become one of the most frequented lines of research in the historical field by the main higher education institutions in the country. The Faculty of History of the Michoacana University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH) has not been immune to this trend and among the theses and dissertations of its graduates there are a significant number of examples. However, the subject of banditry has been little frequented in the interest of local historians since in the course of the 33 years of this establishment only two allusive works have been produced. The first is Blanca Estela Gutiérrez Grajeda's thesis: Peasant Discontent in Colima, 1914-1926; and the second, Rita María Hernández's thesis: Rebels and bandits in Michoacán, 1911-1919. In both cases, the most representative theoretical works are taken as references, use of archival sources and are limited to specific temporalities and geographical areas. . Outside the strict scope of that educational institution, in the course of the last three years, an important production of works on this subject has not been detected in Michoacan historiography. However, it is worth remembering the work of Laura Solares Robles: We are bandits and we walk on the road. Banditry in Michoacán, 1821-1855, published by the Instituto Michoacano de Cultura in 1999, which constitutes an essential reference of the nineteenth century around this problem.
