Abstract

History is a problematic, dynamic, alive and open space, a space for debate that must be read and reread over and over again, always with new eyes, new tools, in an attempt to harvest new signs, clues, codes that help us. to better understand that past and to read our present more rigorously and deeply. History inhabits a challenging complexity that goes beyond any deterministic and reductionist idea of ​​reality and, therefore, its study demands creativity, rigor and commitment to identify each time new explanatory factors of historical processes. Arduous challenge for the historian, to balance objectivity and interpretation, creativity and rigor, and yet, it is in this game where the beauty of the investigation of history dwells, in the possibility of interpretation, in the freedom that the visit to the " space of the possible” which is history. Now, it is important to note that the freedom we speak of in the inquiry into history is not a spontaneous impulse, the freedom to inquire into the "space of the possible" does not arise as a sudden occurrence; The questions that the historian asks of the past are necessarily constructed from the present, and thanks to this, the historian remains assured of his reality and his research remains contemporary with his society. This dimension of contemporaneity so vital for the historian is a thread that, like that of Ariadne and Theseus, must be taken care of so as not to get lost in the labyrinth that represents the passive contemplation of the human.

La historia es un espacio problemático, dinámico, vivo y abierto, un espacio de debate que es necesario leer y releer una y otra vez, siempre con nuevos ojos, nuevas herramientas, en un intento por cosechar nuevos signos, pistas, códigos que nos ayuden a comprender mejor ese pasado y a leer con mayor rigor y profundidad nuestro presente. En la historia habita una complejidad desafiante que desborda cualquier idea determinista y reduccionista de la realidad y, por lo tanto, su estudio nos exige creatividad, rigor y empeño para identificar cada vez nuevos factores explicativos de los procesos históricos. Arduo desafío el del historiador, equilibrar objetividad e interpretación, creatividad y rigor, y sin embargo, es en ese juego en donde habita la belleza de la investigación de la historia, en la posibilidad de interpretación, en la libertad que implica la visita al “espacio de lo posible” que es la historia. Ahora bien, es importante señalar que la libertad de la que hablamos en la indagación de la historia no es un impulso espontáneo, la libertad de indagar en el “espacio de lo posible” no surge como una repentina ocurrencia; las preguntas que el historiador hace al pasado se construyen necesariamente desde el presente, y gracias a ello, el historiador se mantiene asegurado a su realidad y su investigación se mantiene contemporánea a su sociedad. Esta dimensión de contemporaneidad tan vital para el historiador es un hilo que, como el de Ariadna y Teseo, es preciso cuidar para no extraviarse en el laberinto que representa la contemplación pasiva de lo humano.
