Beaterio y Colegio de Santa Ana en San Miguel El Grande, Michoacán, siglo XVIII

Abstract

The Bishopric of Michoacan was spacious talking territorially and important for its economic and social development, where there was a diverse colonial society, a daily life constituted by social class, by the eighteenth century there were changes in the mentality of its inhabitants and the like highlighted the Creoles at different levels of society, such as San Miguel el Grande was founded as a Spanish villa and the place stood out for its fertile lands and mines. In this century secularization was nothing more than the separation of church and state became the religious orders was restricting their power and control to change the Church secular clergy to occupy key positions before the regular clergy had. The woman takes a more prominent role in society considering it as the heir to the customs, a teacher at home and more opportunities was still limited by the power that men had. Trying to care for women alone recojian different institutions where apart from the monasteries, which depends on where you enter should abide by the rules that would give them inside were made. And besides children of these women received doctrine and to learn to read and write. El Obispado de Michoacán que fue amplio hablando territorialmente e importante, por su desarrollo económico y social, donde hubo una sociedad novohispana diversa, una vida cotidiana constituía por clases sociales, para el siglo XVIII hubo cambios dentro de la mentalidad de sus habitantes y el cómo destacaron los criollos en diferentes planos de la sociedad, como San Miguel el Grande que se fundó como una villa de españoles y se destacó el lugar por sus tierras fértiles y minas. La educación ya era impartida a los diferentes sectores de la sociedad como los indios para que tuvieran herramientas suficientes para que pudieran desempeñar en trabajos. En este siglo se dio la secularización que no fue más que la separación de iglesia del estado, las órdenes religiosas se les fue restringiendo su poder y en cambio la Iglesia mando al clero secular a ocupar los principales puestos que antes tenía el clero regular. La mujer adopta un papel más sobresaliente dentro de la sociedad considerándola como la heredera de las costumbres, una maestra en casa y más oportunidades todavía estaba limitada por el poder que tenían los hombres. Tratando de cuidar a las mujeres solas se hicieron diferentes instituciones donde las recogían aparte de los conventos, donde depende a donde entraran deberían acatar las normas que a dentro les pudieran dar. Y a parte los niños y niñas de estas mujeres recibían doctrina y para que aprendieran a leer y escribir. Los recogimientos eran aquellos lugares donde el nombre lo dice recogía a toda aquella mujer que estuviera sola, para que no anduvieran en la calle, estaban a cargo de la iglesia. Los beaterios fueron lugares donde estaban mujeres que recibían alguna clase de educación u otra forma de poder ganarse la vida, como trabajos etc.
