¡No es mi casa, es de ella! El culto a la Niña Blanca en Santa Ana Chapitiro Michoacán, 1990-2010

Abstract

This investigation present the process of conformation of the Holy Death cult, the devotion that exist in Mexico and its apparition in Santa Ana Chapitiro community, Michoacan, in which, withou doubt, the image of the death exist since years ago, as a decorative object of the principal altar of the temple and as the figure that leaded in the procession of the Good Fridays in Patzcuaro City, which went motive of conflict and confusion with the crecent devotion of the Holy Death. The town of Santa Ana Chapitiro is owner of a profound and complex sign of faith, protection, identity and help for those times, by that which permited to study the effects from the cult in the current society and its influence in the place studied, consider as one of the sites more visited and important for the believer of the image of the death.

Esta investigación presenta el proceso de conformación del culto a la Santísima Muerte, la devoción que existe en México y su aparición en la comunidad de Santa Ana Chapitiro, Michoacán, en la que, sin duda alguna, la imagen de la muerte ya existía desde años atrás, como un objeto decorativo del altar principal del templo y como la figurilla que encabezaba la procesión de los Viernes Santos en la ciudad de Pátzcuaro, lo cual fue motivo de conflicto y confusión con la creciente devoción a la Niña Blanca. La población de Santa Ana Chapitiro es poseedora de un profundo y complejo signo de fe, protección, identidad y ayuda para estos tiempos, por lo que permitió estudiar los efectos del culto en la sociedad actual y su influencia en el sitio estudiado, considerándolo como uno de los lugares más visitados e importantes por los adeptos a la imagen de la muerte.
