In recent decades, the municipality of Buenavista Tomatlán, located in southwest of Mi-choacán, has been characterized by its high levels of agricultural production, especially sour lemon for export. This agricultural and, therefore, economic and social develop-ment is completely linked to different historical processes occurred in the region, but above all to the implementation of regional development projects by hydrological wathersheds promoted by the federal government during the presidency of President Miguel Alemán. This, in the case of the region, resulted in the creation of the Commis-sion for the Development of the Tepalcatepec River Wathershed, which was in charge of creating the necessary conditions to promote the integral development of Tierra Caliente and other zones belonging to the region. The present investigation analyzes the impact that this project had in a particular way in the municipality of Buenavista Tomatlán, and shows how the territory was transformed into aspects of land tenure and use, as well as development and social welfare.
En décadas recientes el municipio de Buenavista Tomatlán, localizado en el suroeste michoacano, se ha caracterizado por sus altos niveles de producción agrícola sobre todo de limón agrio de exportación, dicho desarrollo agrícola y por tanto económico y social se encuentra completamente ligado a diferentes procesos históricos acecidos en la re-gión, pero sobre todo a la puesta en marcha de los proyectos de desarrollo regional por cuencas hidrológicas impulsados desde el gobierno federal durante el sexenio del presi-dente Miguel Alemán. Los cuales en el caso de la región se tradujeron en la creación de la Comisión para el Desarrollo de la Cuenca del río Tepalcatepec, misma que se encar-gó de crear las condiciones necesarias para impulsar el desarrollo integral de la Tierra Caliente y de otras zonas pertenecientes a la región. La presente investigación analiza el impacto que dicho proyecto tuvo de manera particular en el municipio de Buenavista Tomatlán, y muestra cómo el territorio se vio transformado en aspectos tanto de tenen-cia y uso de la tierra, así como de desarrollo y bienestar social.
