Abstract

The main content of this research are burial records prepared at the end of the year 1855 and throughout the year of 1856 by the Bachelor Mariano Carrion, in charge of the Metropolitan Tabernacle of Morelia (Sanctuary of the Virgin of Cosamaloapan). The data registered are the name of the deceased, as well as the names of the immediate relatives (spouse, father and mother), age, probable cause of death and the place where they resided. These data allow us to interpret the difficulties in everyday life of people in the mid-nineteenth century. On the other hand, the study of the institution that produced the documents, in this case the Church and specifically the Metropolitan Tabernacle of Morelia, shows us a close relationship with the great political, social, economic and cultural processes that took place at the local level. and national. The construction of the Sanctuary, the founding of the Capuchin convent, the military struggles between liberals and conservatives, the application of the Reform Laws, are some of the events that are addressed in this work.

El contenido principal de la presente investigación son partidas de entierros elaboradas a finales del año 1855 y durante todo el año de 1856 por el Bachiller Mariano Carrion, encargado del Sagrario Metropolitano de Morelia (Santuario de la Virgen de Cosamaloapan). Los datos inscritos son el nombre del fallecido (a), así como los nombres de los parientes inmediatos (esposo (a), padre y madre), la edad, la probable causa de muerte y el lugar donde residían. Estos datos nos permiten interpretar las dificultades en la vida cotidiana de las personas de mediados del siglo XIX. Por otro lado, el estudio de la institución productora de los documentos, en este caso la Iglesia y en específico el Sagrario Metropolitano de Morelia, nos muestra una estrecha relación con los grandes procesos políticos, sociales, económicos y culturales que se desarrollaron a nivel local y nacional. La construcción del Santuario, la fundación del convento de capuchinas, las pugnas militares entre liberales y conservadores, la aplicación de las Leyes de Reforma, son algunos de los sucesos que se abordan en este trabajo.
