This research deals with the altarpiece of the Tupátaro temple located in Michoacán, a Solomonic altarpiece from the eighteen century, the temple with all the colonial art that makes it up, is considered the Sistine Chapel of America, its artistic richness is surprising in every angle. To understand the art of the altarpiece, it is necessary to address the baroque, which emerged in Italy in the seventeenth century, facing the Protestant reform of Martin Luther, that is, the church suffered in that period a great economic and, above all, political crisis. the new artistic form of the church was born out of a desperate social change, for this reason he hired the best artists to create the first sculptures, paintings, as well as architects capable of expressing the sobriety and coarseness of the monuments to be built, the character Gian Lorenzo Bernini was one of the most outstanding of his time, and without a doubt he revolutionized conventional art. In America the baroque was late, since there was no linear preparation of the first artists in the new world, many paintings and sculptures were brought from Spain, to decorate the chapels and later the imposing cathedrals, the arts were taught to the indigenous people, the Royal Academy of San Carlos was introduced in 1781, with the aim of improving artistic works and preparing great architects, painters and sculptors. The altarpiece of tupataro is an artistic work that is structured from architecture, sculpture and painting, to result in an important piece for evangelization as well as making the viewer's gaze sit just when entering the chapel, and that the receiver does not lose focus at any time to each religious figure.
La presente investigación trata del retablo del templo de Tupátaro ubicado en Michoacán, un retablo Salomónico del siglo XVIII, el templo con todo el arte virreinal que lo conforma, es considerado la capilla Sixtina de américa, su riqueza artística es sorprendente en cada Angulo.
