Enfermedades y prácticas curativas entre los tarascos. Siglo XVI

Abstract

The content of this research aims to study healing practices during the epidemic periods of Michoacán in the 16th century, reflecting among these coincidences the mixtures of different knowledge in the New Spanish era. Therefore, in the temporal delimitation, the events belonging to the Tarascan culture in the Mesoamerican West will be specifically addressed. In this way, an analysis of the outstanding events before the conformation in New Spain is followed, which is reflected in the various anthropo-archaeological sources of the chronicles, memorials and geographical relationships. At the same time, the historical debates on health between the scientific society and the natural population will be highlighted in the dissemination of indigenous knowledge that continues to be a current conflict between contemporary society.

El contenido de esta investigación tiene como objetivo el estudio de las prácticas curativas durante los periodos epidémicos de Michoacán en el siglo XVI, plasmando entre estas coincidencias las mezclas de los diversos conocimientos en la época novohispana. Por lo tanto, en la delimitación temporal se abordará específicamente los eventos pertenecientes a la cultura tarasca en el Occidente mesoamericano. De esta manera se sigue un análisis de los destacados hechos antes de la conformación en la Nueva España, lo cual se plasma en las diversas fuentes antropo-arqueológicas de las crónicas, memoriales y relaciones geográficas. Al mismo tiempo se resaltarán los debates históricos sobre la salud entre la sociedad científica y la población natural en la difusión de los conocimientos autóctonos que siguen siendo un conflicto actual entre la sociedad contemporánea.
