Abstract

The increasing need for data management, content and knowledge from different sources and systems is causing in organizations reengineer processes based on business information. To achieve this successfully reengineering taxonomies and classification technologies are proving a key element. SMEs are still of great importance for the economy of a country. Different types allow you to check their heterogeneity and measure the dynamism of their strategies. This research summarizes certain aspects of the business dimension that justify the interest of analyzing the size of the companies as a factor that determines their behavior. The topics are grouped so that the organizational structure is analyzed. Examination of the size distribution of industrial enterprises provides the first argument for the importance of SMEs; they are the most common form of organization of productive activity. Enterprises located below the threshold of 100 workers jobs represent about 95% of the total. Its economic importance also is reflected in the fact that they employ just under half of the labor force and generate a third of the industrial added value. Importantly, the above as part of the productive activity companies often lack a true methodology and lack the necessary elements to understand and use so the best techniques available to achieve better results when performing tasks such as: to conceive and implement an organizational study in all its phases, organizational design and manage, provide technical assistance and consulting services, etc.

La creciente necesidad de gestión de datos, contenidos y los conocimientos provenientes de diferentes fuentes y sistemas está provocando en las organizaciones una reingeniería de los procesos de negocios basados en la información. Para lograr esa reingeniería con éxito las tecnologías de taxonomías y clasificación están resultando un elemento clave. Las PYME mantienen una enorme importancia para la economía de un país. Diversas tipologías permiten comprobar su heterogeneidad y medir el dinamismo de sus estrategias. Esta investigación sintetiza ciertos aspectos de la dimensión empresarial que justifican el interés de analizar el tamaño de las empresas como factor que condiciona su comportamiento. Los temas tratados se agrupan de manera tal que se analiza la estructura de la organización. El examen de la distribución de tamaños de las empresas industriales proporciona el primer argumento que justifica la importancia de las PYME; son la forma más habitual de organización de la actividad productiva. Las empresas situadas por debajo del umbral de empleo de 100 trabajadores representan en torno al 95% del total. Su importancia económica queda, además, reflejada en el hecho de que dan empleo a algo menos de la mitad de los efectivos laborales y generan la tercera parte del valor añadido industrial. Es importante señalar lo anterior ya que como parte de la actividad productiva las empresas muchas veces carecen de una verdadera metodología y no cuentan con los elementos necesarios para comprender y utilizar de manera accesible las técnicas idóneas para lograr mejores resultados al realizar tareas como: el concebir e implantar un estudio organizacional en todas sus fases, diseñar y manejar los organigramas, proporcionar asistencia técnica y servicios de consultoría, etc.
