In our country the loss of neutral for theft has been increasing more than ten years ago, because of this issue, problems occur in the distribution system. It is in the supply where the loss of the neutral is presented because it is easier to steal. In this thesis work the analysis of distribution systems is sought, specifically at the neutral connection. The neutral connection may be in isolation, rigidly landed and landed by low or high impedance value. Additionally, are seen the elements of distribution systems, such as: transformer and techniques for improving a ground system and conductors. With the above can determined the characteristics that make it advisable to each in the distribution system. Three forms of analysis results are presented; by means of a mathematical method, PSpice simulation and laboratory tests. In the same will be seen the most workable way to implement the neutral and what happens when applying a false ground contact to the system, being the latter also vitally important because, apart from cable and luminaries theft, also the fact of existence environmental problems may cause a false contact, causing a malfunction of the network. In conclusion, the results will show as a grounded and low value system will always be more reliable.
