The bodies come from embezzlement, both from practices alien to their "function" and from misversing, poetizing badly, turning badly. In Latin, to embezzle also means to disturb, and the flesh is the blank sheet that torments the subject to inscribe its mark, which is always a gesture of pain, of disturbance. The embezzled body is alien to itself, it tends to constantly slip through the signs of an impossible semiotics of the real. The only alternative is to develop fictions with this displacement in favor, babble capable of modeling bodies that are tied to reality in a creative, although always painful way. Foucault describes the devices of power that articulate the well-behaved body, but also the subversive practices that fold other bodies with those same articulations. For Lacan there is hardly any difference, the subject slips along with the signifiers in pursuit of the object that left him missing. How can the discursive representations of the body be intervened from what is broken, from pain, to open up to other modes of experience? Three experiences of pain are investigated: the evolution of the collective into a single substance of enjoyment in the face of the horror of public executions, which breaks daily life and binds the spectators in the same reconciling shudder. The second path is that of the powers that the body displays when embracing a terminal illness. There are no more lucid reflections on this process than those of Nietzsche in his own case and Thomas Mann, through Hans Castorp. And the third way is to propitiate unbearable pain, the dialectic of suffering that allows going beyond the bodily support towards a new one, not mystical, but capable of supporting mystical enjoyment, in the field of immanent semantics.
