This thesis asserts that there are effective means to prevent, eliminate, and address the harms caused by sexual violence on social media platforms. Digital sexual violence is a form of violation perpetrated through Internet-connected devices. This violence targets the victim's sexuality and intimacy, whether through the sharing, commenting, or dissemination of real or manipulated images without the victim's consent. I drew upon knowledge from various fields, including history, politics, gender studies, anthropology, and psychology, much of which I gained through my affiliation with Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). In each chapter, my approach is to explore digital sexual violence from different perspectives, which collectively contribute to understanding both the phenomenon of digital sexual violence and the case of Olimpia Coral Melo Cruz.
En esta tesis se sostiene que hay formas eficaces para prevenir, erradicar y reparar daños por violencia sexual en las redes sociales. La violencia sexual digital es una forma de violentar por medio de dispositivos conectados a Internet. La violencia se ejerce hacia la sexualidad y la intimidad de la víctima ya sea porque compartan, comenten, difundan imágenes reales o montadas, sin el consentimiento de la víctima. Me apoyé en conocimientos provenientes de los campos histórico, político, de género, antropológico, y el psicológico que me ha brindado la cercanía con Alcohólicos Anónimos (AA). Lo que hago en cada capítulo es hablar de la violencia sexual digital desde diferentes aristas que dan cada una como resultado, por separado y en conjunto, conocer el fenómeno de la violencia sexual digital y el caso de Olimpia Coral Melo Cruz.
