The Matricaria chamomilla, well-known as chamomile, is used as an anti-inflammatory, intestinal movement regulator, carminative, emmenagogue, analgesic, central nervous system (CNS) sedative, gastric antiulcerative, and healer, among others. Moreover, its extracts have been confirmed to possess antibacterial effects. This work deals with the pollution level of the raw watery extracts, and natural teas obtained from the chamomile leaves and flowers, as well as commercial tea bags. Raw watery extracts showed the following bacterial pollution growth: Gram cocci (+) and Gram coccobacillus (-) coming from flowers (90%) and from leaves (65%). Pollution levels innatural teas infusions were decreased obtaining 30% in flowers and 25% in leaves. Commercial tea bags showed a 5% growth of Gram cocci (+). For the antibacterial capability assessment, raw flower extracts had an effect on the E. coli ATCC 25922 with a minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 0.110 mg/ml and raw leaves extracts with a MIC of 0.169 mg/ml. Flower acetonic pigments (FAP) had an effect on S. aureus ATCC 27543 and B. cereus (MIC 2 mg/ml), and against Shigella sonnei (MIC 0.5 mg/ml). Leaves acetonic pigments (LAP) had an effect on S. aureus ATCC 27543 (MIC 2 mg/ml), B. cereus ATCC 14579 (MIC 4mg/ml) and Shigella sonnei (MIC de 0.5 mg/ml). Flower alcoholic pigments (FAP) had an effect on S. aureus ATCC 27543 and ATCC 25923 (MIC 2 mg/ml), B. cereus ATCC 14579, Shigella sonnei and P. aeruginosa ATCC 27853 (MIC 4 mg/ml) and L. monocytogenes ATCC 7644 (MIC 0.5 mg/ml).
A la manzanilla Matricaria chamomilla, le dan usos como antiinflamatorio, regula el movimiento intestinal, es carminativo, emenagogo, analgésico sedante del SNC, antiulceroso gástrico, y cicatrizante entre otros. También se le han comprobado efectos antibacterianos de sus extractos. En el presente trabajo se evaluó el grado de contaminación de los extractos crudos acuosos y tés naturales de las hojas y flores de Manzanilla, y de un té comercial (bolsa). Los extractos presentaron contaminación bacteriana por cocos Gram (+) y cocobacilos Gram (-) en flor (90%) y hoja (65%). En las infusiones (tés) de los anteriores, la contaminación disminuyó en flor presentando un 30% y en hoja 25%. El sobre de té comercial presentó únicamente 5% de contaminación (cocos Gram positivos). En la evaluación de la capacidad antibacteriana: los extractos crudos de flores (ECFM) tuvieron efecto contra E. coli ATCC 25922 con una concentración inhibitoria mínima (CIM) de 0.110mg/ml y los extractos crudos de hojas (ECHM) con una CIM de 0.169 mg/ml. Los pigmentos acetónicos de flores (PACFM) tuvieron efecto contra S. aureus ATCC 27543, B. cereus (CIM 2mg/ml), y contra la Shigella sonnei (CIM 0.5mg/ml).Los pigmentos acetónicos de hojas (PACHM) contra S. aureus ATCC 27543 (CIM 2mg/ml), B. cereus ATCC 14579 (CIM 4mg/ml) y Shigella sonnei s/n (CIM de 0.5 mg/ml).
