This work describes the isolation of the bornyl p-cumarate (1) from the root of Eupatorium aff cardiophyllum. Obtaining in good yields of the methylene chloride extract, allowed the easy access to the compound 5 from the basic hydrolysis of derivative 1. The chemical reactivity of 5 was explored against oxidation conditions with PCC and acetylation, thus achieving the obtention of the camphor (6) and bornyl acetate (33). The structural characterization of these compounds was carried out based on the analysis of their spectroscopic data.
El presente trabajo describe el aislamiento del p-cumarato de bornilo (1) de la raíz de Eupatorium aff cardiophyllum. La obtención en buenos rendimientos del extracto de cloruro de metileno facilitó la preparación del compuesto 5 a partir de la hidrólisis básica del derivado 1; la reactividad química de 5 se exploró frente a condiciones de oxidación con PCC y acetilación, logrando obtener el alcanfor (6) y acetato de bornilo (33). La caracterización estructural de estos compuestos se realizó en base al análisis de sus datos espectroscópicos.
