The alcohol (OH) functional group is one of the most versatile moiety in organic chemistry, since through them new functional groups can be generated. In the same way it is well known that OH reactivity depends on their nature. In the present work the reactivity of the three types of alcohols present in 3β,20,25-trihydroxylupane (17) isolated from Salvia dugesii is explored. The esterification of 3β,20,25-trihydroxylupane (17) modifying the acetylation reaction conditions, allowing the 3β,25-diacetoxy-20-hydroxylupane (18) derivative.
