The present work describes the first chemical study of leaves and stems of the hexane extract of Malpighia mexicana, a species belonging to the Malpighiaceae family. Chemical studies that have been carried out on the species of the genus have identified metabolites with diverse biological activities. From the hexane extract lupeol and the mixture of β-sitosterol and stigmasterol, were isolated and characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectrometry, and compared with data reported in literature.
