The consequences due to surgical infections are of great importance due to the great economic and social impact they represent. Nursing staff working in hospitals, and more specifically in the areas of obstetrics and surgery, have a great responsibility to contribute effectively and efficiently to the prevention and control of nosocomial infections; For this reason, it is obliged to constantly update its knowledge regarding the use of new antiseptic products, which at the same time allows it to work in safer conditions, and at the same time, provide a safer environment for users. This study shows that there are deficiencies in the knowledge and therefore in the use of the antiseptic products available in two Hospital Units of the ISSSTE in the State of Guanajuato, and allows us to infer that this lack of knowledge favors the fact that that the nursing staff present physical reactions, when using the available antiseptics and disinfectants. As a consequence, there is a need for more information regarding the use and preparation of these products.
Las consecuencias debidas a las infecciones quirúrgicas, cobran gran importancia debido al gran impacto económico y social que representan. El personal de enfermería que labora en los centros hospitalarios y más específicamente en las áreas de tococirugía, tienen la gran responsabilidad de contribuir de forma efectiva y eficiente en la prevención y control de las infecciones intrahospitalarias; por tal motivo está obligada a actualizar constantemente sus conocimientos, respecto al uso de los nuevos productos antisépticos, lo que a la vez le permita trabajar en condiciones de mayor seguridad, y al mismo tiempo, proveer de un ambiente más seguro a los usuarios. Este estudio muestra que existen deficiencias en el conocimiento y por lo tanto en el uso, de los productos antisépticos de que se dispone en dos Unidades Hospitalarias del ISSSTE en el Estado de Guanajuato, y permite inferir que esta falta de conocimiento, propicia el hecho de que el personal de enfermería presente reacciones físicas, al usar los antisépticos y desinfectantes disponibles. Como consecuencia, existe la necesidad de una mayor información, respecto al uso y preparación de estos productos.
