El estudio se realizó con el objetivo de conocer el nivel de sobre carga del cuidador primario del adulto mayor primario al comenzar esta la investigación de los factores que desencadena la sobrecarga del cuidador. En nuestra sociedad que gran parte de los cuidadores adquieren el papel de cuidador más por vínculo afectivo, que por la capacidad o conocimiento para hacerlo. Como lo han reflejado diversos atores anteriormente el familiar es el principal proveedor para brindar los cuidados y son las mujeres quien asumen este rol sobre pasando la propia capacidad física, mental y emocionalmente del cuidador generándole un evento de estrés que con el tiempo se trasforma en crónico. En el estudio verificamos las diferentes afecciones que presenta el cuidador de forma negativa asía su salud, presentándole problemas principalmente de ansiedad y depresión que también afectan su salud física también se observa que presentan aislamiento social, falta de tiempo libre presentan deterioro de calidad de vida dando lugar a lo que los autores denominaron el síndrome del cuidador. Nos percatamos de los cuidadores con menos bienestar económico presentan mayor riesgo de depresión.
