Dinámica familiar y su relación con la presencia de ideas suicidas en estudiantes de nivel medio superior

Abstract

Suicide is a serious public health problem that results in almost one million victims per year, causing psychological, social and economic impact to the family and community. Objective. To determine the relationship between family dynamics and the presence of suicidal ideation in high school students. Methodology. Quantitative, non-experimental, correlational, cross-sectional and prospective study. Non-probabilistic sample, convenience sampling of 270 students. The FF-SIL Family Functioning Test, 14 items, 1-5 response scale and the Plutchik Suicide Risk Scale, 15 items, yes and no response scale were used. Descriptive and inferential statistics and SPSS v.25 software were used. The life and health of the participants were protected. Results. The majority of the participants were women 56.7%, single 94.2%, students 98.5%, 34.8% were in their third year of school, 78.9% from Morelia and 45.9% performed light physical activity, 62.2% had a good family environment, 48.5% had a good school environment, 51.9% perceived their family as having a regular socioeconomic status. Finally, 49.3% have moderate family dysfunction and 62.6% are not at risk of suicidal ideation. Regarding the relationship between family dynamics and risk of suicidal ideation, a statistically significant negative and strong relationship was obtained (r= -.414, ρ= .000), so the worse the family functionality, the higher the risk of suicidal ideation. Conclusions. Finally, high school students have moderate family dysfunction and do not present a risk of suicidal ideation.

El suicidio es un problema de salud pública grave que se traduce en casi un millón de víctimas al año, provocando impacto psicológico, social y económico a la familia y comunidad. Objetivo. Determinar la relación de la dinámica familiar y la presencia de ideas suicidas en estudiantes de nivel medio superior. Metodología. Estudio cuantitativo, no experimental, correlacional, transversal y prospectivo. Muestra no probabilística muestreo a conveniencia de 270 estudiantes. Se utilizó el Test de Funcionamiento Familiar FF-SIL 14 ítems, escala de respuesta del 1-5 y la Escala de Riesgo Suicida de Plutchik, 15 ítems, escala de respuesta de sí y no. Se utilizó estadística descriptiva e inferencial y programa SPSS v.25. Se protegió la vida y la salud de los participantes. Resultados. La mayoría de los participantes fueron mujeres 56.7%, solteros 94.2%, estudiantes 98.5%, 34.8% cursaba el tercer año escolar, 78.9% de Morelia y 45.9% realiza actividad física leve, 62.2% tiene buen ambiente familiar, 48.5% bue ambiente escolar, 51.9% percibe a su familia con un estado socioeconómico regular. Finalmente 49.3% posee una moderada disfunción familiar y 62.6% no presenta riesgo de ideas suicidas. En cuanto a la relación entre dinámica familiar y riesgo de ideas suicidas se obtuvo una relación estadísticamente significativa negativa y fuerte (r= -.414, ρ= .000), por lo que a peor funcionalidad familiar mayor riesgo de ideación suicida. Conclusiones. Finalmente, los estudiantes de nivel medio superior poseen una moderada disfunción familiar y no presentan riesgo presentar ideación suicida.
