La función de lo sobrenatural, la transgresión y lo religioso en cuatro cuentos fantásticos de Gabriela Rábago Palafox

Abstract

The fantastic as a genre in Mexico has gained relevance and acquired new meanings over time and has been shaped by a long list of authors. Gabriela Rábago Palafox was a little-known author, but with interesting and enriching texts regarding the genre. Her stories are full of diverse nuances that enrich them and make them unique and special, but the lack of access to her creations limits the possibility of knowing them. This research aims to make visible a part of his work, as well as to analyze the fantastic elements par excellence that make up some of them. The idea is to be able to identify the way in which elements such as transgressions, the supernatural and the religious function within these stories in order to define them as fantastic, their components, characteristics and the way in which they take shape within the texts. This work implied many challenges because it was not so easy to have access to them, but without a doubt, it is worthwhile because they can be analyzed from different perspectives that contribute to the recognition of the author as well as to the knowledge of her literature and, of course, to a better understanding of the fantastic stories in Mexico.

Lo fantástico como género en México ha tomado relevancia y adquirido nuevos significados con el paso del tiempo y se ha conformado por una larga lista de autores. Gabriela Rábago Palafox fue una autora poco conocida, pero con textos interesantes y enriquecedores respecto al género. Sus cuentos están llenos de diversos matices que los enriquecen y los convierten en únicos y especiales, pero al haber poco acceso a sus creaciones se limita la posibilidad de conocerlos. Esta investigación tiene como objetivo visibilizar una parte de su trabajo, así como analizar los elementos fantásticos por excelencia que componen algunos de ellos. La idea es poder identificar la forma en la que elementos como las transgresiones, lo sobrenatural y lo religioso funcionan dentro de estos cuentos para poder definirlos como fantásticos, sus componentes, características y el modo en que toman forma dentro de los textos. Este trabajo implicó muchos retos debido a que no tan fácil tener acceso a ellos, pero sin duda, vale la pena debido a que pueden analizarse desde diversas perspectivas que abonen tanto al reconocimiento de la autora como al conocimiento de su literatura y, desde luego, para una mejor comprensión de los cuentos fantásticos en México.
