This thesis addresses the emotional pain experienced by some women who lose a child before birth, a painful event that leave deep emotional scars. The work is based on testimonies of women who have experienced this loss and aims to understand the complexity of grief, which remains with them after the tragedy. In this context, it reflects on the role of motherhood un society and culture, which imposes on women the duty to be mothers, and how impacts their identity and emotions when facing the death of an unborn child. The thesis also explores psychoanalytic concepts such as parenthood, which involves subjective rather than biological aspects, and how motherhood is socially constructed beyond natural impulses. Furthermore, it also analyzes how the death of an unborn child can generate difficulties in grieving due to the lack social recognition and the invisibility of pain, as women who experience this loss do not always find spaces where they can express their suffering without being judged. It is suggested that this type of grief in linked to the loss of a unique and irreplaceable object, whose avoid cannot be filled, and that the pain associated with the loss may be even deeper due to the social and personal expectations women had regarding motherhood. Finally, this thesis proposes that a psychoanalytic approach may provide an appropriate space for these women to process their grief and rebuild their identity after the loss.
La tesis aborda el dolor emocional que experimentan algunas mujeres al perder a un/na hijo/a antes del nacimiento, un evento doloroso que, puede dejar huellas profundas. El trabajo se basa en testimonios de mujeres que han vivido esta pérdida y busca entender la complejidad del duelo, que permanece con ellas mucho tiempo después de la tragedia. En este contexto, se reflexiona sobre el rol de la maternidad en la sociedad y la cultura, que impone a las mujeres el deber de ser madres, y cómo este mandato afecta su identidad y emociones al enfrentar la muerte de un hijo/a no nacido/a. La tesis también explora conceptos psicoanalíticos como la parentalidad, la cual involucra aspectos subjetivos y no biológicos, y cómo la maternidad se construye socialmente más allá de los impulsos naturales. Además, se analiza cómo la muerte de un/a hijo/a no nacido/a puede generar dificultades en el duelo debido a la falta de reconocimiento social y la invisibilidad del dolor, ya que las mujeres que atraviesan esta pérdida no siempre encuentran espacios donde expresar su sufrimiento sin ser juzgadas. Se sugiere que este tipo de duelo está vinculado a la pérdida de un objeto único e irremplazable, cuyo vacío no se puede llenar, y que el dolor asociado a la pérdida puede ser incluso más profundo debido a las expectativas sociales y personales que las mujeres tenía sobre la maternidad. Por último, esta tesis propone que un enfoque psicoanalítico puede proporcionar un espacio adecuado para que estas mujeres procesen su dolor y puedan reconstruir su identidad tras la pérdida.
