The purpose of this research is to conduct a feminist philosophical analysis of how the concept of “witch” in its characterization has had different meanings over time and within different contexts, which constitute prototypes and categories of analysis. These categories allow us to understand how its use has not only responded to conceptualizing characters in stories or legends, but also women whose association with this concept has determined their lives. The aim is to demonstrate that the word “witch,” as a prototype and category, is permeated by political, social, cultural, and even ideological precepts, in light of which we argue that both its construction and its use respond to interests defined by these precepts. The analysis, which starts from a reconstruction of the different discourses that framed the concept of witch, ranges from a review of this concept as a prototype that evidences the construction of a stigma, to a commitment to vindication that enables the consolidation of this concept as a category of analysis. Thus, from a feminist perspective, witch is a category that highlights the reasons why some women were relegated, persecuted, and punished by being labeled as witches, so their vindication implies not only questioning those reasons but also showing that, within discourses, concepts do not arise by chance.
La presente investigación tiene como propósito el análisis filosófico feminista de la forma en que el concepto de “bruja” en su caracterización, ha tenido diversos significados a lo largo del tiempo y dentro de distintos contextos, mismos que constituyen prototipos y categorías de análisis. Dichas categorías permiten entender la manera en que su utilización no sólo ha respondido a conceptualizar a personajes de historias o leyendas, sino a mujeres cuya asociación con este concepto ha determinado sus vidas. Con ello, se busca constatar que la palabra “bruja” como prototipo y como categoría, se encuentra atravesada por preceptos políticos, sociales, culturales e incluso ideológicos, ante lo cual objetamos que tanto su construcción como su utilización responde a intereses demarcados a partir de dichos preceptos. El análisis que parte desde una reconstrucción de los distintos discursos que enmarcaron al concepto de bruja, van desde la revisión de este concepto como un prototipo que evidencia la construcción de un estigma, hasta una apuesta por la vindicación que posibilita la consolidación de dicho concepto como categoría de análisis. Así, desde la perspectiva feminista, bruja, es una categoría que evidencia las razones por las que algunas mujeres fueron relegadas, perseguidas y castigadas al ser nombradas como brujas, por lo que su vindicación implica no sólo cuestionar dichas razones, sino mostrar que, dentro de los discursos, los conceptos no surgen del azar.
