Prostitución, trabajo y comercio sexuales. Un estudio desde el análisis crítico del discurso contenido en textos académicos mexicanos

Abstract

This study aims to critically analyze the contextual, textual, and discursive characteristics of academic discourse published in scientific journals within the field of psychology regarding prostitution, sex work, and the sex trade. It identifies discursive trends associated with different ideological positions that shape representations and meanings. This analysis is grounded in a social constructionist theoretical framework with a gender perspective and employs Critical Discourse Analysis, following Van Dijk's (2003) approach. The analysis reveals that scholarship on prostitution, sex work, and the sex trade does not merely describe a social reality but actively participates in its construction. The analytical categories, metaphors, and linguistic strategies employed organize meanings, distribute value judgments, and shape subjectivities, demonstrating that psychological knowledge is not neutral. The findings show that these representations are inscribed within specific ideological frameworks that reproduce patriarchal and capitalist logics, in which the female body continues to be the object of control, regulation and commodification, maintaining the foundations of the sexual contract even in the academic sphere.

El presente estudio tiene como objetivo analizar críticamente las características contextuales, textuales y discursivas propiamente dichas del discurso académico publicado en revistas científicas desde la disciplina de la psicología sobre la prostitución, trabajo y comercio sexuales, identificando las tendencias discursivas asociadas a distintas posturas ideológicas que configuran representaciones y significados. Este análisis se fundamenta en un marco teórico socioconstruccionista con perspectiva de género y emplea el método de Análisis Crítico del Discurso con el enfoque de Van Dijk (2003). El análisis permitió comprender que las producciones sobre la prostitución, el trabajo y el comercio sexuales no se limitan a describir una realidad social, sino que participan activamente en su construcción. Las categorías analíticas, metáforas y estrategias lingüísticas empleadas organizan significados, distribuyen valoraciones y configuran subjetividades, evidenciando que el conocimiento psicológico no es neutral. Los hallazgos muestran que estas representaciones se inscriben en marcos ideológicos específicos que reproducen lógicas patriarcales y capitalistas, en las que el cuerpo femenino continúa siendo objeto de control, regulación y mercantilización, manteniendo vigentes las bases del contrato sexual incluso en el ámbito académico.
