Efecto de la adición del nopal (O. ficus-indica) a la dieta de gallinas (Gallus gallus domesticus) sobre colesterol (sérico y en huevo), productividad, incubabilidad y viabilidad del pollito bajo el esquema de avicultura familiar

Abstract

This research proposes the use of two varieties of cactus (O. ficus-indica) – vegetable (VC) and forage (FC) – as part of the diet of chickens. VC (for human consumption) was chosen because surpluses are not marketed and technical alternatives are needed to mitigate waste and optimize this available resource. In this regard, the overall objective was to evaluate the effect of adding VC and FC on a fresh basis (FB) to the diet of (Gallus gallus domesticus) Rhode Island Red (RIR) hens under an experimental family poultry farming model (FPPS) on productivity, serum cholesterol (SChol), egg yolk cholesterol (EChol), hatchability, and chick viability at birth (CBV). The specific objectives (SO) were: 1) To characterize and schematically model the factors affecting hatchability and VPN in SPAF; 2) To evaluate the effect of weight variability (on arrival) of RIR pullets on growth dynamics and its relationship with the age at onset of laying (AOL); 3) To evaluate the effect of adding FC and VC in FB to the diet of RIR hens under an experimental FFPS model on growth indicators and feed consumption (FC); 4) To evaluate the effect of adding FC and VC in FB to the diet of RIR hens under an experimental FFPS model on SChol, EChol, and their relationship with productivity; 5) Determine the effect of adding FC and VC in FB to the diet of RIR hens on SChol, EChol, and their relationship with hatchability; 6) Evaluate the effect of adding FC and VC in FB to the diet of RIR hens on egg quality and CBV.

La presente investigación plantea el uso de dos variedades de nopal (O. ficus-indica) -verdura (NV) y forrajero (NF)- como parte de la dieta de las gallinas. Se eligió el NV (para consumo humano) debido a que los excedentes no se comercializan y se requiere de alternativas técnicas para mitigar el desperdicio y optimizar este recurso disponible. En este sentido, el objetivo general fue evaluar el efecto de la adición del NV y NF en base fresca (BF) a la dieta de gallinas (Gallus gallus domesticus) Rhode Island Red (RIR) bajo un modelo experimental de avicultura familiar (SPAF) sobre la productividad, colesterol sérico (ColS), el colesterol en yema de huevo (ColYh), incubabilidad y viabilidad del pollito al nacimiento (VPN). Mientras que los objetivos específicos (OE) fueron: 1) Caracterizar y modelar esquemáticamente los factores que afectan la incubabilidad y VPN en los SPAF; 2) Evaluar el efecto de la variabilidad del peso (a la recepción) de pollas RIR sobre la dinámica de crecimiento y su relación con la edad del inicio de postura (EIP); 3) Evaluar el efecto de la adición de NF y NV en BF a la dieta de gallinas RIR bajo un modelo experimental de SPAF sobre indicadores de crecimiento y consumo de alimento (CA); 4) Evaluar el efecto de la adición de NF y NV en BF a la dieta de gallinas RIR bajo un modelo experimental de SPAF sobre ColS, ColH y su relación con la productividad; 5) Determinar el efecto de la adición de NF Y NV en BF a la dieta de gallinas RIR sobre ColS, ColH y su relación con la incubabilidad; 6) Evaluar el efecto de la adición de NF y NV en BF a la dieta de gallinas RIR sobre calidad de huevo y VPN.
