El espejo en la roca: el relato sobre las pintoras rupestres de la Península de California

Abstract

The investigation touches the subject of the painting in rocks from the perspective of different disciplines with the purpose to do the reading of some stone canvases in different places of the peninsula of Baja California. The search goes into the early population of the peninsula and the authorship of the painting rock by different indigenous groups like the cochimies, guaycuras and pericues. He also relates about some of his foundational myths and the relationship with places in the mountain area of Guadalupe and the sierra of San Francisco, particularly those of the cannon of Santa Teresa and San Borjita. In that search the investigation establishes a relationship between the forms monumental of sacred characters that are located in the austral region with the centrals sierras of the peninsula. In that investigation takes advantage the information of the firsts reports and letters from the missionary newspaper that started with the foundation of the Real of Guadalupe, San Bruno, and the mission of Loreto. The Reading of the landscape as a matter linked to the ritual finds in this story the relationship with the forms and pictorial monuments that are studied from the manifestation of the sacred indigenous world.

La investigación aborda el tema de las pinturas rupestres desde la perspectiva de diferentes disciplinas con la finalidad de hacer la lectura de algunos lienzos de piedra de diferentes sitios de la península de Baja California. En esa búsqueda se incursiona en el poblamiento temprano de la península y la autoría de las pinturas rupestres por diferentes grupos indígenas como los cochimiés, guaycuras y pericués. Sobre estos últimos relata acerca de algunos de sus mitos fundacionales y su relación con sitios del área serrana de Guadalupe y de la sierra de San Francisco, particularmente los del cañón de Santa Teresa y San Borjita. En esa búsqueda la investigación logra establecer una relación entre las formas monumentales de carácter sagrado que se localizan en la región austral con las de las sierras centrales de la península. En esta investigación se aprovecha la información de los primeros informes y cartas del periodo misional que comenzaron a realizarse con la fundación del Real de Guadalupe, San Bruno, y la misión de Loreto. La lectura del paisaje como asunto vinculado al ritual encuentra en este relato su relación con formas pictóricas monumentales que son estudiadas desde la manifestación de lo sagrado del mundo indígena.
