The present investigation aims to analyze the particularities of the trajectory of a migrant of German origin from the Prussian State who came to Mexico in 1844, who managed to consolidate himself as a wealthy merchant, lender and landowner in Mexico. Carl Hypolite Haghenbeck Branwald established himself in Mexico City and diversified his economic activities shortly after being established, within the framework of a free-market economic project that sought to attract investment to boost a traditional economy inherited from Spanish colonialism.
La presente investigación tiene como finalidad analizar las particularidades de la trayectoria de un migrante de origen alemán súbdito del Estado prusiano que vino a México en 1844, que logró consolidarse como acaudalado comerciante, prestamista y latifundista en México. Carl Hypolite Haghenbeck Branwald se estableció en la Ciudad de México y diversificó sus actividades económicas poco tiempo después de establecerse, en el marco de un proyecto económico de libre mercado que buscaba atraer la inversión para dinamizar una economía tradicional heredada del colonialismo español.
