Gonzalo Guerrero, Jerónimo de Aguilar y los indígenas de Yucatán: la percepción del "otro"

Abstract

At the end of the XV century the European knowledge of the existence of America was a event that changed the humanity's direction. After it, there was a new one geopolitical and ideological reordenamiento that caused a confrontation among theologians, jurists and thinkers of the time, exhibiting diverse thesis on the justification of the it conquers of the new overseas territories. The contact with the American towns caused that some Spaniards you they restated rigid existent conceptions in Spain of the XV and XVI centuries, have more than enough their own customs, traditions and religious beliefs. In the first decades of the arrival of the Europeans to America, there were some documented cases of Spaniards that were able to be assimilated to the American otredad; some of them, for extraordinary (other not) circumstances, cohabited with those indigenous of the New World and they ended up appreciating them as much as to their coterráneos and in particular cases, preferred to live with the native ones that to make it with the Europeans.

A fines del siglo XV el conocimiento europeo de la existencia de América fue un acontecimiento que cambió el rumbo de la humanidad. Después de ello, hubo un nuevo reordenamiento geopolítico e ideológico que ocasionó una confrontación entre teólogos, juristas y pensadores de la época, exhibiendo diversas tesis sobre la justificación de la conquista de los nuevos territorios de ultramar. El contacto con los pueblos americanos ocasionó que algunos españoles se replantearan concepciones rígidas existentes en la España de los siglos XV y XVI, sobre sus propias costumbres, tradiciones y creencias religiosas. En las primeras décadas de la llegada de los europeos a América, hubo algunos casos documentados de españoles que lograron asimilarse a la otredad americana; algunos de ellos, por circunstancias extraordinarias (otros no), convivieron con los indígenas del Nuevo Mundo y llegaron a apreciarlos tanto como a sus coterráneos y en casos particulares, prefirieron vivir con los nativos, que hacerlo con los europeos.
