Bullying hacia jóvenes homosexuales: otra cara de la homofobia

Abstract

Scholar violence is one of the aspect that has been working with more emphasis on the past ten years, if this violence is repeated over time, carried out between peers and motivated by the sexual orientation of one of the students, we are in the presence of Homophobic Bullying. When referring to the term Homophobic Bullying, two variables are intertwined: on the one hand, Bullying, as a phenomenon of violence that occurs between equals, being a type of aggression with specific characteristics (Zegarra, Gonzalez, Matew, Ferrero and Martorell, 2009). And Homophobia as the manifestation of odium towards homosexual people (Brito and Labastida, 2009). Both aspects have been the subject of several separate studies, but when both variables are combined, the phenomenon named Homophobic Bullying arises (UNESCO, 2012). From this perspective, homophobic Bullying is another face of homophobia that affects not only the the victims who suffer it, but also the whole of their environment, so we face a complex phenomenon that requires immediate attention.

últimos diez años, si esta violencia es repetida en el tiempo, se lleva a cabo entre pares y es motivada por la orientación sexual de uno de los alumnos estamos ante la presencia del Bullying Homofóbico. Cuando se hace referencia al término Bullying Homofóbico se entrelazan dos variables: por una parte, el Bullying, como un fenómeno de violencia que se presenta entre iguales, siendo un tipo de agresión con características específicas (Zegarra, González, Matew, Ferrero y Martorell, 2009) y la Homofobia como la manifestación del odio hacia personas homosexuales (Brito y Labastida, 2009). Ambos aspectos han sido motivo de varios estudios por separado, pero cuando ambas variables se conjuntan surge el fenómeno nombrado Bullying Homofóbico (UNESCO ,2012). Desde esta perspectiva, el Bullying Homofóbico es otra cara de la homofobia que afecta no sólo a las víctimas que lo sufren, sino también a todo su entorno, por lo que nos encontramos ante un fenómeno que requiere de atención inmediata .
