Congenital hypothyroidism (HC) is one of the causes of mental retardation, the worldwide prevalence of estrogen is one of two thousand four hundred fifty-eight live births (RN), both geographical and population variations have been described. The suspicion is made by means of the test called neonatal sieve which must be taken to all RN. Hypothyroidism is the situation resulting from a decrease in the tissue biological activity of thyroid hormones either by poor production or by resistance to its action on the target tissues. HC, have an extraordinary importance in the child because of its potential impact on their intellectual development, since thyroid hormones are essential for their intellectual development during the postnatal and prenatal stages.
El hipotiroidismo congénito (HC) es una de las causas de retraso mental, la prevalencia mundial de esté, es uno de dos mil cuatrocientos cincuenta y ocho recién nacidos vivos (RN), se han descrito variaciones tanto geográficas como poblacionales. La sospecha se realiza por medio de la prueba llamada tamiz neonatal el cual se debe tomar a todo RN. El hipotiroidismo es la situación resultante de una disminución de la actividad biológica tisular de las hormonas tiroideas, bien por una producción deficiente o bien por resistencia a su acción en los tejidos diana. El HC, tienen una extraordinaria importancia en el niño por su potencial repercusión sobre su desarrollo intelectual, dado que las hormonas tiroideas son imprescindibles para su desarrollo intelectual durante las etapas posnatal y prenatal.
