The gutta-percha is a polymer, fundamentally poliisopropeno that is extracted of a tropical tree in Malaysian. To ambient temperature, 60% is crystalline, while the rest of the mass has an amorphous structure. As it is normal in the polymers, the one material is viscous elastic, what means that it presents certain elasticity, but to the one same time has the characteristics of a viscous liquid. When he/she warms, the gutta-percha softens and he/she is deformed, becoming liquidates when the temperature overcomes the 65°C. The material can also be dissolved in solvent organic as the one chloroform, the xileno and the eucalyptol.
La gutapercha es un polímero, fundamentalmente poliisopropeno, que se extrae de un árbol tropical en malasia. A temperatura ambiente, el 60% es cristalino, mientras que el resto de la masa tiene una estructura amorfa. Como es normal en los polímeros, el material es viscoso elástico, lo que significa que presenta cierta elasticidad, pero al mismo tiempo tiene las características de un líquido viscoso. Cuando se calienta, la gutapercha se ablanda y se deforma, volviéndose liquida cuando la temperatura supera los 65°C. El material también se puede disolver en disolventes orgánicos como el cloroformo, el xileno y el eucalipto.
