The present research work has as a purpose to carry out a study on the presence in the Constituent Congress of 1856 of one of the forgotten and relegated figures of the civic santoral of our country, it is the egregious figure of Don Vicente Riva Palace and Guerrero, who Developed in the course of his life several activities that influenced the consolidation of the country. Licentiate, playwright, constituent and federal deputy in several legislatures, brigadier general, magistrate of the Supreme Court of Justice, political journalist, minister of fomentation, official historian, ambassador of Mexico in Spain and short storyteller. They are just some of the facets made by Vicente, which he would play with special zeal and with a true sense of commitment to the needs of his country. The life of General Riva Palacio has been studied with special interest by several academics in the subjects of History and Literature, however, little has been sketched within the activities that realized in the fields of the legal-political thing in spite of to have played several public charges. Therefore, the present research will try to carry out a historical-legal study with the purpose of contributing a little more about the life of Vincent within the field of studies of the History of Law. It is expected that this work will awaken the interest of those who read to get closer to know some of his historical works, novels and stories that undoubtedly in several of them becomes a true apology of the nineteenth-century liberal thinking of our Mexican culture.
El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como finalidad realizar un estudio sobre la presencia en el Congreso Constituyente de 1856 de una de las figuras olvidadas y relegadas del santoral cívico de nuestro país, se trata de la egregia figura de Don Vicente Riva Palacio y Guerrero, quien desarrolló en el transcurso de su vida varias actividades que influyeron en la consolidación del país. Licenciado, dramaturgo, diputado constituyente y federal en varias legislaturas, general de brigada, magistrado de la Suprema Corte de Justicia, periodista político, ministro de fomento, historiador oficial, embajador de México en España y cuentista. Son solo algunas de las facetas realizadas por Vicente, las cuales desempeñaría con especial ahínco y con un verdadero sentido de compromiso para con las necesidades de su patria. La vida del general Riva Palacio ha sido estudiada con especial interés por varios académicos en las materias de Historia y Literatura, sin embargo, poco se ha esbozado dentro de las actividades que realizó en los campos de lo jurídico-político a pesar de haber desempeñado varios cargos públicos. Por lo cual, la presente investigación tratará de realizar un estudio de tipo histórico-jurídico con el propósito de aportar un poco más sobre la vida de Vicente dentro del terreno de los estudios de la Historia del Derecho. Se espera que con este trabajo se despierte el interés de quien lo lea para que se acerque a conocer alguna de sus obras históricas, novelas y cuentos que sin duda en varias de ellas se hace una verdadera apología del pensamiento liberal decimonónico de nuestra cultura mexicana.
