The city of Lázaro Cárdenas (LC) is located in the southern part of the coast of the state of Michoacán, in one of the most seismic areas of the country in which they originate earthquakes of greater magnitude in the history of Mexico, as the 1985 earthquake caused severe damage in the city of Mexico. Between the years 1980-2000, in response to a commercial and industrial progress of the Steel and International Port, this city presented growth of 275% and 332%, respectively population and housing. Therefore, the city of LC is increasingly vulnerable to seismic activity, so it is convenient to have studies on the dynamic behavior of the ground to identify areas of greatest susceptibility to earthquake.
La ciudad de Lázaro Cárdenas (LC) se encuentra en el sector meridional de la costa del estado de Michoacán, dentro de una de las zonas más sísmicas del país en la que se han originado los sismos de mayor magnitud en la historia de México, como el sismo de 1985 que causó graves daños en la ciudad de México. Entre los años de 1980 a 2000, y en respuesta a un progreso comercial e industrial de la Siderúrgica y Puerto Internacional, esta ciudad presentó crecimientos de 275% y de 332%, en población y vivienda respectivamente. Por lo anterior, la ciudad de LC es cada vez más vulnerable a la actividad sísmica, por lo que es conveniente tener estudios sobre el comportamiento dinámico del terreno que permitan identificar zonas de mayor susceptibilidad al movimiento sísmico.
