The main mechanism of hardening in nickel base alloys is due to the precipitation of second phases such as ' and '' phase. However, there is another phase that precipitates in this type of alloys, decreasing its mechanical properties, harming the resistance of the material under operating conditions, phase, reason why it is necessary to detect this phase in order to avoid costs in the maintenance. The objective of this work was to characterize the thermal aging of an Inconel 718 alloy by means of non-destructive techniques. A thermal treatment of solution at 1050 ° C was carried out on all samples and subsequently aged at 950 ° C by; 0.5, 1, 10, 24, 50, 100, 150 and 300 hours to precipitate different amounts of phase. Non-destructive techniques were used such as: thermoelectric potential measurement (PTE), electrical conductivity measurement using the alternating current potential drop technique (ACPD) and ultrasonic attenuation measurement to monitor microstructural changes depending on the aging time. Tests of uniaxial tension and Vickers hardness were carried out. Using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) it was possible to monitor and corroborate the presence of phase and correlate them with the techniques used. In PTE measurements at 150 h, the highest measurement of 3551 μV / °C was observed. Evaluating the electrical conductivity reading, the change obtained was 2.56%, although the change is small, this is consistent with a small measurement error. In attenuation measurements as the dwell time increases, attenuation in the material increases due to microstructural evolution.
