Ti-6Al-4V alloy stands out for having a low weight, its high mechanical and corrosion resistance. In biomedical applications such as orthopedic implants, which implies the alloy will be subjected to different static or dynamic stresses. For biomedical applications, corrosion and wear resistance are important characteristics in selecting the type of implant and the alloy from which it will be made. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the mechanical properties, through heat treatments to modify the microstructure. The α2 nanoparticle precipitation with a Ti3Al composition produced by an aging heat treatment in a temperature range from 500 to 600 °C contributes to an increase in the hardness of the alloy. In the present work, the effect of α2 precipitation in a Ti-6Al-4V alloy with bimodal microstructure was investigated after being aged after different holding times and subjected to corrosion resistance tests in artificial plasma at room and body temperature, as well as the wear behavior under dry condition. The non-destructive technique of thermoelectric potential (TEP) was also investigated to determine the Seebeck coefficient (SC) of the samples as an alternative to detect the microstructural changes caused by thermal aging in the Ti-6Al-4V alloy in a non-destructive way. The microstructural analysis showed differences in the number of precipitates α2 per grain, this was reflected in the microhardness, in such a way that the greater the number of precipitates, the greater the hardness (at 200 h), at this time the higher the SC which indicates that TEP measurements are sensitive to precipitation.
