The avocado is the most important agricultural asset for Michoacán's economy in the last 30 years. In Michoacán it is possible to produce this fruit throughout the year and thus position itself as the leader in avocado production in the world. By 2018, Michoacán avocado production accounted for about 80% of Mexico's avocados and more than 25% of world production. In recent years, Mexico leads the world export of avocados to the United States of America (USA), with a market value of over two billion US dollars (USD) in 2017- 2018. The "Green Gold" powerhouse also leads the European and Asian markets where per capita consumption is consistently increasing over time. The present research had as its central objective to financially replicate the price of the Michoacan avocado through the construction of a portfolio composed of the futures of the most traded agricultural assets on the Chicago Stock Exchange (CBOT) regulated by the CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission) of the financial sector in the USA. Consequently, the general hypothesis of the research was that the behavior of the price of the Michoacan avocado can be replicated financially by constructing synthetic portfolios of commodity futures such as corn, oats, wheat, soybeans, coffee, cocoa and sugar. The study started by framing the problematic situation of the economic sector of the Michoacan avocado both internationally and domestically, emphasizing the variables of the study with the objective of accurately describing the research problem.
