Turismo y desarrollo territorial en Umécuaro. Un análisis desde los actores, sus percepciones y perspectivas

Abstract

Tourism in rural areas has contributed to the territorial development as a complement to agriculture and cattle industry. At Umécuaro, Michoacán, the tourism started more than 30 years ago, including activities related to rural tourism, adventure and ecotourism. Among these activities, the restaurants are the ones that are owned and managed by local members of the community. This investigation analyses, through deep interviews to tourism actors, the perception about the impact of the tourism activities into the different elements of the territorial development, through five categories of analysis: the coordination with the community, the administration of the local community, the respect to the environment and culture, the relation between tourist and host, and the relation with the public administrations.

El turismo en áreas rurales ha contribuido al desarrollo territorial como un complemento a las actividades agrícolas y ganaderas. En la localidad de Umécuaro, Michoacán, las actividades turísticas inician hace más de 30 años, en las que se incluyen actividades de turismo rural, turismo de aventura y ecoturismo. Dentro de estas actividades, la que tradicionalmente operan los miembros de la comunidad se limita a los restaurantes. A partir de esta investigación, se analiza, a través de entrevistas a los actores turísticos de la localidad, su percepción acerca del aporte de las actividades turísticas a los diferentes elementos del desarrollo territorial, a través de 5 categorías de análisis: la coordinación de la comunidad, la operación de la población local, el respeto al medioambiente y la cultura, la relación entre el anfitrión y el visitante, y la relación con las administraciones públicas.
