Caracterización ecológica de Trichocentrum pachyphyllum (Orchidaceae) en Tenderio, municipio de Tingambato, Michoacán para colaborar a su conservación

Abstract

The Orchidaceae family constitutes one of the most diverse groups, however, it is located among the most vulnerable plants, mainly due to the loss of its habitat and illegal extraction, being T. pachyphyllum one of the species most widely extracted from its habitat for its commercialization in the study area. The objective of this work is to generate knowledge about its ecology in the Tenderio Site of the Indigenous Community of Santiago Tingambato in the state of Michoacán de Ocampo, Mexico. In order to describe the ecology of T. pachyphyllum, samples were taken in quadrants of 12.5 by 25 meters, oriented to the NE, four in each of the three types of vegetation: Pine-Oak Forest, Oak-Pine Forest and Mountain Cloud Forest. In each quadrant, the trees with DBH (Diameter at Breast Height) ? 3.0 cm were recorded, all the individuals of T. pachyphyllum found, their vertical distribution was recorded (in the trunk or in the crown and within it, in the basal, intermediate or distal part), age category (juvenile, adult 1, adult 2), position on the branch (up, down, lateral or vertical), orientation and substrate (lichen, bark, moss). To estimate natural pollination: 229 flowers from 27 marked plants, found on 22 phorophytes, were tagged. The above to evaluate the natural fruit set or female reproductive success. The viability of the seeds was determined with the presence or absence of an embryo, establishing the following categories: 1) empty testa 2) viable seed. Two hundred seeds from one capsule were observed under an optical microscope.

La familia Orchidaceae constituye uno de los grupos más diversos, sin embargo, está ubicada entre las plantas más vulnerables principalmente por la pérdida de su hábitat y extracción ilegal, siendo T. pachyphyllum una de las especies más ampliamente extraídas de su hábitat para su comercialización en el área de estudio. El objetivo del presente trabajo es generar conocimiento sobre su ecología en el predio de Tenderio de la Comunidad Indígena de Santiago Tingambato del estado de Michoacán de Ocampo, México. Con el objetivo de describir la ecología de T. pachyphyllum se realizaron muestreos por cuadrantes de 12.5 por 25 metros, con una orientación al NE, cuatro en cada uno de los tres tipos de vegetación: Bosque de Pino-Encino, Bosque de Encino-pino y Bosque Mesófilo de Montaña. En cada cuadrante, se registraron los árboles con un DAP ? 3.0 cm., se registraron todos los individuos de T. pachyphyllum encontrados, su distribución vertical (en el tronco o en la copa y dentro de esta, parte basal, intermedia o distal), categoría de edad (juvenil, adulta 1, adulta 2), posición sobre la rama (arriba, abajo, lateral o vertical), orientación y sustrato (liquen, corteza, musgo). Para estimar la polinización natural y/o abierta: se etiquetaron, 229 flores provenientes de 27 plantas marcadas, encontradas sobre 22 forófitos. Lo anterior para evaluar el fruit set natural o éxito reproductivo femenino. La viabilidad de las semillas se determinó con la presencia o ausencia de embrión, estableciéndose las siguientes categorías: 1) testa vacía 2) semilla viable. Se observaron al microscopio óptico 200 semillas provenientes de una cápsula.
