The scope of the civil engineer is wide and manages a range of possibilities in which the practitioner can develop. Usually it opts for areas such as water works, structural design, building, and land routes. One of the areas unexplored by civil engineer is the area of management, specifically as it relates to accounting. Mentioned above, the construction companies choose to be master of professionals which administrative departments, finance, accounting and human resources; and not the management position is set for a business manager stated, it is the turn. El campo de aplicación del ingeniero civil es amplio y maneja una gama de posibilidades en el cual puede desarrollarse el profesionista. Normalmente se opta por las áreas como las obras hidráulicas, el diseño de estructuras, edificación, y vías terrestres. Unas de las áreas poco exploradas por el ingeniero civil es el área de la administración, específicamente en cuanto a contabilidad se refiere. Mencionado lo anterior, las empresas de la construcción optan por hacerse de profesionistas los cuales dominen los departamentos administrativos, de finanzas, de contabilidad y de recursos humanos; ya no se diga el puesto gerencial esta puesto para un administrador de empresas, sea el giro que sea. En el campo de la construcción el ingeniero debe estar preparado en todos ámbitos, y más si está ocupando un puesto a nivel administrativo o gerencial. Dentro de la contabilidad, el constructor se verá en la necesidad de entrar al campo de las finanzas, así como de algunas disposiciones fiscales básicas, ya que es un área la cual no puede quedar excluida de la Ley. La elaboración de documentos oficiales, así como también el manejo de cierta información financiera que se genera día con día en nuestro país. Dentro de los obstáculos más marcados a los que nos enfrentaremos será precisamente el identificar de manera adecuada el campo o el área a la que pertenecen los elementos del ente de la construcción; así como al momento de registrar las operaciones, ir siempre apegado a lo que dicten las leyes fiscales, y más aún, tener una interpretación clara de las mismas para no dar lugar a errores o confusiones en la elaboración de los documentos los cuales serán confrontados ante las autoridades correspondientes.
