En países subdesarrollados, con problemas de marginación, corrupción y desorganización atávica, la necesidad de actitudes humanistas es aún más apremiante. Nuestro país, por ejemplo, cuenta con inmensos recursos naturales (minerales, forestales, marítimos, climatológicos, etc.); y sin embargo se encuentra entre este tipo de países. Es una paradoja viviente; nuestros grandes problemas son las fallas humanas. Afortunadamente en las últimas décadas se ha reaccionado, y ha resurgido la preocupación por desarrollar en forma racional el capital humano a todos niveles. Han surgido programas de capacitación humanista con miras a que cada quien se responsabilice de su destino, se abra a la colaboración, cuestione sus metas, aclare sus objetivos y los de la institución, comprenda y acepte a la gente y libere sus capacidades, de tal modo que los equipos aumenten la productividad en formas creativas. No se trata de aprendizajes convencionales predeterminados por una escuela o maestro, sino del aprendizaje vivo, significativo, que origine cambios interiores que se reflejen en nuevas conductas. La capacitación en las instituciones con frecuencia se confía a personas de muy buena voluntad pero poco menos que improvisadas y además, agobiadas de quehaceres heterogéneos. El resurgimiento del sentido de lo humano en los tiempos actuales, pareciera ser una de las grandes preocupaciones de los teóricos contemporáneos con la pretensión de superar los resabios del siglo XX, para comenzar una nueva era en el milenio que iniciamos.
