In recent decades, important climatic changes have been observed that obstruct the physical development of young people and children due to the lack of adequate sport facilities, which contribute to their development through the practice of sports, thus reducing social problems (gangs, alcoholism and drug addiction). They occur when youth do not have occupational alternatives. Due to this problem, the present work studies three possible structural alternatives of roof covers that can be implemented to cover basketball courts for the sport unit of the municipality of Coalcomán, Michoacán; which are studied from the point of view of their structural behavior. To reach the objective, different architectural alternatives are studied, which explore from aesthetic aspects to what are the benefits that help to limit the effects of solar rays. Subsequently, analytical models are developed that consider the wind actions to which these structures may be subjected, in order to determine which of the proposed alternatives is the optimum to be built. In the present work, it is explained how to determine the actions due to permanent and accidental (wind) loads, and the process followed to develop the numerical models to lead the structural analysis and structural design processes. The results and bases considered to determine the optimum structure to be implemented in the courts of public units located in Coalcomán, Michoacán, are presented as a solution to reduce the effects of climate changes and to improve the physical development of young people and children
