The construction of streets and highways has become indispensable for the development of a nation. To this end, engineers have relied on design methodologies developed as a result of mathematical and empirical studies that have been carried out for a long time. This paper evaluates two of the most widely used methods for the design of rigid pavement structures, the PCA (Portland Cement Association) methodology and the AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) methodology, making a comparison of both design methods and a general description of each of the methodologies used and their design criteria. This work includes a study of Soil Mechanics to know the conditions of the area in which the structure is to be built, as well as gathering the necessary information on the characteristics and properties of the soil.
