Proyecto integral de conservación y restauración. Biblioteca Pública Gertrudis Bocanegra, Pátzcuaro

Abstract

The Gertrudis Bocanegra public library in Pátzcuaro, Michoacán is a building designed to offer a timely, adequate and cultural space for study, research, teaching and self-training for the general population. Its spatial conditions are adapted to the architectural match of the old temple of San Agustín from the 18th century, provided to the extent of its possibilities an optimal service for the user and the visitor. The property is currently listed as a Historical Monument under the protection of the three levels of government and is immersed in the Historical Monuments Zone of the city of Pátzcuaro protected by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) and the Secretary of Culture with declaration of 1992. Inside it preserves a monumental mural entitled “Historia de Michoacán" by the prominent artist and architect of the 20th century, Juan O'Gorman under the safeguard of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBA), who is entrusted with the protection and dissemination of artistic heritage. In this way, the property brings together aspects of great cultural importance as it is linked to the history of Michoacán and Pátzcuaro, creating an affective bond of identity and appreciation, which is why its conservation revolves around an intervention proposal taking care of the integrity of the property under tangible and intangible aspects that stand out from it, based on the understanding and respect for its material in the construction and structural systems, according to action strategies based on appropriate restoration criteria that neutralize the physical deterioration to which it is the property is subjected today and that puts the heritage conservation and the heritage it protects at risk.

La biblioteca pública Gertrudis Bocanegra en Pátzcuaro, Michoacán es un edificio destinado a ofrecer un espacio oportuno, adecuado y cultural para el estudio, investigación, enseñanza y autoformación para la población en general. Sus condiciones espaciales están adaptadas al partido arquitectónico del antiguo templo de San Agustín del siglo XVIII, brindado en la medida de sus posibilidades un óptimo servicio para el usuario y el visitante. El inmueble, actualmente es catalogado como Monumento Histórico bajo la protección de los tres niveles de gobierno y está inmerso en la Zona de Monumentos Históricos de la ciudad de Pátzcuaro protegido por el Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH) y la Secretaria de Cultura con declaratoria de 1992. En su interior preserva un mural monumental titulado “Historia de Michoacán” obra del destacado artista y arquitecto del siglo XX, Juan O’Gorman bajo salvaguarda del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBA), quien tiene la encomienda la protección y difusión del patrimonio artístico. De este modo, el inmueble reúne aspectos de gran importancia cultural al estar vinculado con la historia de Michoacán y de Pátzcuaro, creando un vínculo afectivo de identidad y apreciación, razón por la cual, su conservación gira en torno a una propuesta de intervención atendiendo la integridad del inmueble bajo aspectos tangibles e intangibles que sobresalen de él, basados en la comprensión y el respeto a su materia en los sistemas constructivos y estructurales, de acuerdo a estrategias de acción con base a criterios de restauración oportunos que neutralicen el deterioro físico al que está sometido hoy en día el inmueble y que pone en riesgo la conservación patrimonial y del acervo que resguarda.
