El Catolicismo es un término que hace referencia al carácter de la fe profesada por los fieles de la Iglesia católica apostólica romana, como así también a la teología, doctrina, liturgia, principios éticos y normas de comportamiento derivadas, al igual que al conjunto de sus seguidores como un todo. La religión es algo que está en un cambio continuo, ya que a medida que pasa el tiempo, el hombre se desplaza tanto temporal como espacialmente, tiene una especie de instinto de supervivencia, pues a pesar de que la idea central de la religión continúa constante, ella debe amoldarse a sus receptores para poder sobrevivir, y hoy en día esto debe de acentuarse más que nunca, La arquitectura religiosa debe ser, ante todo, humilde. No debe proclamar el nombre de su autor, sino de su destinatario, que es el Señor, a quien corresponde toda la gloria. La fuente esencial de la que deben beber los arquitectos católicos es la Tradición, porque la arquitectura religiosa es, ella misma, un vehículo de transmisión de esa Tradición con cada una de sus piedras. Si los arquitectos desconocen la Tradición católica, no pueden diseñar una buena iglesia, porque estarán transmitiendo su propia tradición ajena a la Tradición de la Iglesia. Nadie da lo que no tiene.
